The history of titanium frames began here
1982 Japan at this time was hailed to be in the midst of a science and technology boom, with the automotive and electronics industries outdoing even America, and we opened a new chapter in the history of eyeglasses with the creation of Titanos, the world's first all pure titanium frames. Titanium is light, strong, and does not rust, possessing the perfect attributes for eyeglass frames. However, it is difficult to process, so it was primarily used in military applications and the aerospace industry. When Maruman Optical Co., Ltd. was first founded in 1978, we devoted our efforts to research on titanium, spending 4 years to develop the world's first titanium frames that are high quality, gentle on human skin, and comfortable to wear, culminating in the successful development Titanos. The first model, Titanos T701, was on display at the National Museum of Nature and Science for 5 years as an example of the superior products which are the pride of Japan. The concept behind Titanos is to provide customers the world's most comfortable fit. To achieve this, we are committed to using 100% made in Japan parts in manufacturing as well as in development and design. Furthermore, we established the Titanos Service Center at our HQ to offer quick and comprehensive repairs in case of damage or defects, minimizing the inconvenience to customers.
